Softball -- Panthers continue to roll

PRINCETON -- North Johnston's offense struck early and often as the Panthers toppled Princeton 11-0 Friday in a Carolina 1-A Conference game at the Lady Bulldogs' diamond.
North Johnston (18-1, 9-0), the top-ranked team in the 1-A ncihigh.com coaches/media poll, had a five run, rwo-out rally to open the game. Janna Rogerson, Robyn Creech, Brandy Edwards, Ashley Woodall, Ashley Tart and Emily Levick all had singles.
Tart reached on a fielders choice and Levick on an error in the fourth inning, again with two out. Michelle Fisher, running for Tart, scored on an error and Levick scored on a passed ball.
Hannah Ellis led off the fifth inning with a single. Evans reached on an error and Creech's second hit scored Ellis. Candice Renfrow, running for Evans, scored on Brandy Edwards' second hit of the game. Creech and Edwards scored on ground outs.
Candace Evans struck out nine and allowed just one hit in four innings. She was relieved by Fisher in the fifth inning, who gave up a double to Nicole Hargis and allowed a walk.
North Johnston travels to Rosewood on Tuesday. Princeton (4-12, 3-7) will be traveling to Farmville Central on Friday.
