Baseball -- Wayne Christian lights up Norlina

NORLINA -- Wayne Christian's J.D. Hightower had four hits, including a home run and four RBI to help guide the Eagles to a 15-12 win in a slugfest at Norlina Christian Academy.
The two teams combined for 30 hits on the game.
Josh Brannan added three hits and two RBI for the Eagles (10-3 overall), who improved to 5-1 in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference heading into the first round of the conference tournament at home against Community Christian at 5 p.m.
Norlina takes on Village Christian in the tournament's opener at 3 p.m.
Jordan Yelverton, Billy Smith, Andrew Bass and Tyler Thomas all had two hits for the Eagles with Yelverton driving in two with a double.
Billy Smith picked up the win on the mound for Wayne Christian in two innings of relief work.
