Softball -- S. Wayne tallies non-conference win

WILSON -- Southern Wayne's Dominique Williams connected for her third home run of the season in the fourth inning to help boost the Saints past Wilson Hunt 4-3 on Tuesday in non-conference action.
The Saints improved to 7-11 overall and will return to Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference action on Thursday at West Carteret.
Williams drove in two with the fourth inning homer that proved to be the game-winning hit.
Karen Thornton added two hits and an RBI. Scarlett Joyner delivered one RBI.
Lesli Darden picked up the win for Southern Wayne, yielding five hits in seven innings of work and allowing only one earned run.
"Darden changed speeds, hit her spots and did an outstanding job," Southern Wayne coach Brad Matthews said.
