PIKEVILLE -- Greene Central continued its undefeated season with a 9-0 win at Charles B. Aycock on Wednesday.

The Rams (17-0) won all nine matches contested in straight sets.

Andrew Hulbert, Brent Darden, Lin Hall, Chris Hardy, Dustin Grant and Brian Sugg all claimed wins for Greene Central, who went on to sweep the doubles contests.

At number five singles, David Williams hung tight with Grant in the second set, but Grant eventually won the second set 7-5.

"Their players always come up with big shots when they need it. We looked like a much improved team today," Aycock coach Luke Vail said. "Hopefully today's match will make us tougher for the upcoming conference matches."

Aycock's number one doubles team, Danny Fairchild and Brandon Howard played the Ram combo of Hulbert-Darden close as Greene Central eventually won the top doubles match 8-6.

"Fairchild and Howard played unbelievable tennis in beginning of the doubles match. They were hitting winners all over the court and were really pumped up," Greene Central coach Brad Sauls said. "Luckily, Brent and Andrew cut down on their errors and pulled out a hard fought win."

The Golden Falcons (7-5) host West Carteret in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference play today at 4 p.m. Greene Central hosts North Pitt today.
