NEW BERN -- Charles B. Aycock swept the singles and doubles en route to a 9-0 decision against West Craven on the Craven Community College courts Tuesday afternoon.
Top-seeded Danny Fairchild, fifth-seeded David Williams and sixth-seeded Rich Holder each posted a straight-set shutout. Second-seeded Brandon Howard lost just two games, while third-seeded Sean Kelly prevailed 6-0, 6-1.
Fourth-seeded David Dodson triumphed 6-3, 6-2 against the Eagles' Raymond Warren.
Aycock didn't lose a game in doubles.
"We played well overall considering it was our first match in two weeks," Aycock coach Luke Vail said. "Our guys need to raise their intensity level with two tough matches ahead."
The Golden Falcons (7-4) improved to 6-2 overall in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play. They entertain traditional 2-A powerhouse Greene Central at 4 p.m. today and face ECC leader West Carteret on Thursday.
