SNOW HILL -- Two-time defending Eastern Plains 2-A Conference champion North Lenoir defeated Greene Central 6-2 on the James R. Fulghum Athletic Complex diamond Tuesday evening.
The Hawks captured their 22nd straight EPC win.
Right-handed pitcher Morgan Worthington surrendered two runs on five hits and struck out nine in a complete-game effort. Worthington is unbeaten in five mound appearances.
Rachel Cromer batted 2-for-4. Ashley Griffin added two hits in two at-bats, and two RBI.
Amber Oakes led the Rams with two hits. Teammate Cassie Webb provided one hit and drove in both runs.
Webb endured the pitching loss, giving up six runs on nine hits in seven innings.
Greene Central (2-7, 0-2) is the guest of SouthWest Edgecombe this afternoon. Meanwhile, North Lenoir (12-1, 2-0) entertains North Pitt at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
