Moore, NJ drop Gators

SEVEN SPRINGS -- North Johnston's Ashley Moore hurled a five inning shutout, striking out seven against one walk and allowing just two hits in a 10-0 win at Spring Creek on Tuesday.
The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
The Gators (8-7) and Panthers (5-6) currently sit tied with Rosewood and Farmville Central for third place in the Carolina 1-A Conference at 3-3.
Moore helped his cause with three hits at the plate, while teammates Adam Virgil and Travis Jones drove in three runs each. Jay Edwards added two hits for the Panthers.
Randy Amos and Blake Thompson had the lone two hits for the Gators, who will match up again against North Johnston in the first round of the Deacon Jones Invitational Tournament at Princeton on April 14.
