Track -- Warrior girls sweep ECC meet

Shelly Baker and Yasmine Washington each claimed a pair of wins and helped lead Eastern Wayne sweep Washington and West Carteret in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference action Thursday afternoon.
The Warriors amassed 85 points while the Patriots picked up 61. The Pam Pack was a distant third with 24 on the Little Big Horn track.
Baker took the 100 hurdles (17.1 seconds) and 300 hurdles (50.2).
Washington captured the long jump (13-5) and 400 (1:10).
Lindsey Fennell (100) and Eugenia Baker (200) each picked up an individual victory.
On the boys' side, Chris Campbell, Keone Davis and long-distance specalist Matt Interrante each won an event for the Warriors. Campbell emerged first in the triple jump (35-3). Davis ran an 11.62 in the 100, while Interrante earned the top finish in the 1,600.
Eastern Wayne knocked off West Carteret 70-60 in the overall meet score. Washington racked up 56 points.
The Warriors entertain county rivals Southern Wayne and Goldsboro next Monday afternoon.
