Track -- Greene Central girls dominate meet

LAGRANGE -- Greene Central's girls track team dominated a three-team, Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference meet Monday afternoon at North Lenoir. The Lady Rams scored 104 points to easily outpace the host Hawks (56) and visiting Tarboro (1).
Brianna Stanton and Olisa Thaggard had strong afternoons for Greene Central.
Stanton swept the high jump (4 feet, 8 inches) and the 400 meters (1 minute, 09 seconds); while Thaggard won the triple jump (35-9) and the long jump (16-1). Thaggard also ran legs on two winning relay teams -- the 800 relay with Teketia May, Alicia Best and Shontay Dodd (1:57) and the 400 relay with Sierra Bryant, Best and Dodd (53.25).
The 3,200 relay team of Jessica Chesson, Nicole Robinson, Crystal Sheppard and Deandra Tyson also won (13:24).
The Lady Rams (7-0) entertain league rivals SouthWest Edgecombe and North Pitt on Thursday.
