PINETOPS -- Spring Creek prevailed in two of three doubles matches and eased past SouthWest Edgecombe 6-3 in Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A action Tuesday at the Lee R. Hall Athletic Complex.
The top-seeded doubles of Cliff and Grey Wilson knocked off the Cougars' Derek Turner-Corey Hamilton 8-1. Fellow Gators Ricky Galloway-Will Daniel turned in the same score at No. 2 against Jackson Perry-Tyler Cannon.
The two Wilsons, Galloway and Daniel each claimed a straight-set win in singles.
SouthWest emerged victorious at Nos. 5 and 6 singles.
"They don't have any seniors and only one returning seeded player, I think," Spring Creek coach Robert Jones said. "They're very young right now. We played well at the top. Cliff and Grey played excellent matches."
Spring Creek started the week with a 7-1 decision against rival Rosewood on Monday. The Gators swept the doubles and won five of six singles matches.
Top-seeded Wesley Lovelady claimed the Eagles' lone win, a 6-4, 7-6 (4) decision against Cliff Wilson.
The Gators (6-0, 5-0 C/EPC) travel to unbeaten Greene Central on Thursday.
"We'll see what happens," Jones said. "I hope we can go over there and compete."
