MOC baseball ranked No. 30

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive makes its first appearance this season in the national top 30 as Trojans are tied for No. 30 in this week's Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Top 30. Mount Olive is 17-6 overall and 6-3 in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference. The Trojans are tied with Massachusetts-Lowell for the No. 30 spot.

Mount Olive has won eight of its last 10 games and has wins this season over No. 13 Pfeiffer and No. 14 Shippensburg. Mount Olive also split a pair of games last week at Francis Marion, which was ranked No. 28 at the time. The Trojans also have games scheduled this season against No. 11 North Florida, No. 12 Augusta State and No. 21 Georgia College and State.

Mount Olive is hitting .320 as a team and has 33 home runs in 23 games.

Craig Hurba and Steve Parrish lead the Trojans with 19 home runs between them. The Trojans are averaging 8.4 runs per game and have outscored their opponents 193-133. Mount Olive has scored 50 runs in its last three games. On the mound, Ricky Duke is 5-0 with two saves, while Brian Corbett and Jason Sharp are both 2-1. Sharp has two saves and Corbett has one save.

Mount Olive plays host to Virginia State today in a non-conference game, then travels to Limestone this weekend for a three-game CVAC series. The Trojans play host to No. 11 North Florida in a doubleheader Tuesday.
