PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock opened its Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference schedule with a 6-0 victory against county foe Southern Wayne on Tuesday afternoon.
The doubles matches were not contested due to inclement weather.
Danny Fairchild, Brandon Howard, Sean Kelly, David Dodson, David Williams and Rich Holder each picked up a singles win. Kelly, Dodson, Williams and Holder did not lose a game.
The Golden Falcons (2-0, 1-0 ECC) travel to traditional 2-A powerhouse Greene Central this afternoon.

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central dropped just two games in singles and doubles combined, and dominated SouthWest Edgecombe 9-0 in a Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A Conference match Tuesday afternoon.
Andrew Hulbert, Brent Darden, Lin Hall, Chris Hardy, Dustin Grant and Brian Sugg each picked up a singles win. Hulbert, Darden, Hall and Sugg each beat their respective opponent in straight sets.
Hardy and Grant each lost an opening-set game.
Hulbert-Darden, Hall-Hardy and Grant-Sugg each rolled to a shutout in doubles.
The Rams (4-0, 3-0 C/EPC) entertain C.B. Aycock this afternoon.

TEACH netters
remain unbeaten
TEACH, a team of home-schooled students, remained unbeaten in two outings with an 8-1 victory against Wayne Christian on Tuesday afternoon.
The teams played eight-game pro sets.
David Sullivan, Matthew Rouse, Triston Hooks, Sam Rouse and Caroline Finch each earned a singles win.
Sullivan-M. Rouse, S. Rouse-Robbie Hankins and T. Hooks-Alexander Hooks each collected a win in doubles. T. Hook-Alexander, the No. 3 seed, defeated the Eagles' Taylor Gray-Ricky Howell 8-7 (4).
Gray grabbed the Eagles' lone win, a 4-2 decision against Alexander Hooks at the No. 5 singles spot.
TEACH plays again March 29 against Eastern Wayne at Herman Park.

Spring Creek climbed to 2-0 overall with a 7-2, non-conference win against East Duplin at Walnut Creek on Tuesday afternoon.
Cliff Wilson, Grey Wilson, Ricky Galloway and Will Daniel each grabbed a singles win. Grey Wilson defeated Jason Dean 12-10 in a first-set tiebreaker and pulled away for a 7-6 (10), 6-4 win.
The Gators swept the doubles.
Spring Creek travels to Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A Conference foe Ayden-Grifton on Thursday.

ATLANTIC BEACH -- Eastern Wayne's third-seeded doubles of Andrew Smith-Chris Musser prevailed in a tiebreaker and defeated West Carteret's Chad Compton-George Dawkin 8-7 (4) in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference action Tuesday.
The Patriots claimed the team win 8-1 on the Atlantic Beach Racquet Club courts.
Eastern Wayne (0-3, 0-2 ECC) is scheduled to host J.H. Rose this afternoon.

knocks off Eagles
SNOW HILL -- North Lenoir prevailed in five singles matches and that's all it needed in a 5-3 victory against Rosewood on the Snow Hill Tennis Complex courts Tuesday afternoon.
Matt Mitchell notched the Eagles' lone singles win 6-1, 6-0 against the Hawks' Billy Kirk.
The day's tightest singles match occurred at the No. 6 slot. Rosewood's J.P. Cummings claimed the first set 6-3 against Rufus Hill. But Hill rebounded to take the next two sets in tie-breaking fashion 7-6 (6) and 7-6 (2).
That helped the Hawks gain a 5-1 advantage after singles play.
Rosewood took the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches. The No. 3 doubles was not contested.
The Eagles dropped to 1-1 overall and 1-1 against Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A Conference opposition. They entertain Tarboro at 4 p.m. Thursday.
