Greene Central sweeps South Central

WINTERVILLE -- The Greene Central boys and girls track teams remained unbeaten in two outings with a non-conference sweep of South Central on Thursday afternoon.
Tyvonne Johnson prevailed in four events, sparking the Rams past the Falcon boys 73-45. Johnson took top honors in the 100, the long jump, the 100 hurdles and the 200.
Meanwhile, Miriam Sheppard and Shontay Dodd each claimed a pair of events for the Ram girls, who recorded an easy 81-34 win. Sheppard claimed the triple jump and 300 hurdles. Dodd beat the opposition in the 100 and 200.
Greene Central entertains Spring Creek next Monday afternoon.

C.B. Aycock boys
take non-league meet
PRINCETON -- Shonte Barnes triumphed in a pair of field events as Charles B. Aycock dominated a three-team, non-conference boys meet Thursday afternoon at the Fred Bartholomew Athletic Complex track.
The Golden Falcons amassed 102.5 points, easily beating runner-up Union, which scored 62.5. Princeton, which hosted the meet, tallied 15 points.
Barnes recorded a distance of 18 feet, 11 inches in the long jump. He notched a first-place mark of 39-9 in the triple jump. Barnes also finished second in the shot put.
