DELAURIS B. JAMES

DeLauris “Dee” Brock James, passed away peacefully Sept. 2, at her home in Sandy Springs, Ga., a few weeks after her 90th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald B. James, in Oct. 1993.
She is survived by sons, John James, of Atlanta, and Glenn James, of Cookeville, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Harry Thompson, of Marietta, Ga.;and grandchildren, Wade Thompson, Lacey Thompson, and Blaine Thompson of Atlanta. She also is survived by sisters, Beverly Brock Hatch, of Mount Olive,N.C., and Jean Brock Long, of Chesapeake Beach, Md.
Dee was born in Beautancus, N.C., and graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, where she met her husband, Gerald James, who was a student at North Carolina State. After marrying and living in Raleigh for 17 years, their family moved to Eden, N.C., where she lived until 2010, before moving to Sandy Springs, Ga., to be closer to family.
