Thomas L. Claypool, 59, passed away Oct. 9, 2017, at Meche Hospice of Tampa, Fla.
He was buried at Calvary Cemetery of St. Petersburg, Fla.
A 1976 graduate of Southern Wayne High School, Thomas went on to attend the United States Air Force Academy, and rose to the position of aircraft commander on the Stratofortress B-52.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick D. Claypool of Goldsboro, N.C.
Thomas is survived by his mother, Ida L. Claypool of Goldsboro, N.C.; his sister, Teresa C. Nicholls and brother-in-law, Mikal Nicholls, of Lakeland, Fla.; nieces, Angela Buckley and Kimberly Tokar; and nephew, John Nicholls.
