Julia Mae Grantham Sutton, 92, Calypso resident, passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 4, at Transitions Life Care Hospice in Raleigh.

Born in the Smith's Chapel community of Wayne County, it was Jan. 14, 1942, in Bennettsville, S.C., that she married the love of her life, Edward Bizelle "E.B." Sutton, a young Calypso man.

Calypso became "home" to her upon her marriage, and continued to be for more than 75 years.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m. at Calypso Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. Pastor Nick Nielsen will officiate, and burial will follow in Calypso Cemetery.

Visitation will be during the hour before the service in the church fellowship hall, and at other times, at the home of Marsha S. Odom, 6133 Mount Olive Highway, Mount Olive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calypso Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 321, Calypso, N.C., 28325, or Transitions Life Care Hospice, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, N.C., 27607.

Mrs. Sutton is survived by a son, Lemuel Sutton of Calypso; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy S. and Bill Thomas of Morehead City, Marsha S. Odom of Dobbersville community of Mount Olive and Kimberly S. and Joseph Wrenn of Fuquay-Varina; a sister-in-law, Betty T. Grantham of Mount Olive; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.B. Sutton; a son, Charles Edward "Eddie" Sutton; son-in-law, Douglas Odom; her parents, Charles Ottis Grantham and Thelma Barfield Grantham; a sister, Clara Lou Grantham Britt; and three brothers, Colon, Fulton and Carlton Grantham.
