ELIZABETH 'LIZ' HORNE

Elizabeth "Liz" Horne passed away Oct. 24, 2015.

She was born Jan. 27, 1944.

Liz is survived by her loving husband, Chester Horne.

Known for her kind and giving heart, Liz loved reaching out to others.

She worked at Avon for 33 years, and excelled as an Avon district manager for 14 of those years.

Liz and her husband enjoyed bowling in local leagues, and they enjoyed traveling together to participate in bowling tournaments nationally. Liz and her husband loved traveling and meeting new people.

Family and friends meant the world to Liz. She welcomed everyone into her home and into her life. She hosted dinners for family and friends, who would drive many miles for her delicious food and fellowship. Liz had an infectious laugh and an easy-going style that made everyone feel at home in her home.

She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished them and loved them unconditionally.

Her dog, Angel, was her special companion, and was always by her side. Angel brought such enjoyment to Liz.

Liz was a devoted, faithful member of St. Luke Church of Christ Disciples of Christ Church of Goldsboro.

She is survived by three sons, Carl "Tony" Jackson, (Bernadette), Elgin "Timmy" Jackson (Kathy) and Jamie Jackson (Tonya), and four daughters, Sharion "Cricket" Horne Melton (Eduardo), Kimberly Horne, Shelvia "Jeannie" Horne and Diedre "Dede" Horne Daniels (Alvino).

She is also survived by her three brothers, Robert Young (Sandra), Willie "Pete" Young (Elma Faye) and Wilbert Cherry (Mary).

She leaves behind many caring relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy Ray Edwards, Charles Young, Johnny Young and Moses Young.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 N. Carolina St.,Goldsboro, N.C.

A public viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway in Wilson, N.C.

The family will receive friends at the residence, where it will assemble at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in preparation for the funeral procession.
