ERNESTINE MITCHELL STRICKLAND

Pastor Ernestine Mitchell Strickland, formerly of Wayne County, 73, 4118 Crenshaw Road, Lumber Bridge, N.C., departed her earthly life Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Lumberton, N.C.
Ernestine was born in Wayne County June 24, 1942. She was born to the late Mrs. Cora McGowan Mitchell and Mr. Bobby Mitchell.
She received some education in the Wayne County public school system.
Pastor Strickland was preceded in death by her daughter, Mrs. Cynthia Hines.
Pastor Strickland served as pastor at Mission of Hope Ministries Church in Shannon, N.C.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. in D.L. Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. Pastor Timothy L. Dortch will officiate. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, from 10 to 10:50 a.m. in Apostle D.L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family present.
Pastor Strickland is survived by a loving and devoted husband of more than 50 years, Peter Strickland Jr. of Lumber Bridge, N.C.; her children, Sandra Strickland of Goldsboro, N.C., Sharlene McRae and husband, Daniel, of Hephzibah, Ga., James Ray Strickland of Lumber Bridge, N.C., Bernadine Pride of Goldsboro, N.C., and Antonio Strickland of Maxton, N.C.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, faithful family members, church members, other relatives and friends.
Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, the family members and friends will assemble one hour prior at 8:50 a.m. at the residence of Ms. Sandra Strickland, 1403 North Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.
Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
