James E. Roland Sr., 81, 291 Perry Miller Road, Kenansville, died Friday at Vidant Duplin Hospital.
Funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at New Christian Chapel Church, with the Rev. Cameron D. Hankins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born in Lenoir County, he was the son of the late Leander and Ida Madrey Roland, and husband of Sarah Miller Roland.
Five children survive.
Visitation will be tonight from 3 to 7 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home chapel and an hour prior to funeral. The family will receive friends at the home.
