MICHAEL JEROME "JERRY" BISHOP

Mr. Michael Jerome Bishop, 63, formerly of Wayne County, and lovingly known by his family and friends as "Jerry," 8300 Georgie Trace Ave., Austin, Texas, departed his earthly life Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at his residence in Austin, Texas.
Jerry was born in Johnston County, N.C., May 22, 1952, to the late Mr. Earnest Bishop and Mrs. Gloria Jones Bishop.
He received his education in the public school system of Wayne County. He graduated in 1970 from Goldsboro High School.
After graduating from high school, Jerry served his country by enlisting into the United States Army. After his tour of duty, Jerry was discharged honorably Aug. 10, 1973.
Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Bishop Bell; his brother, Lonnie Eugene Bishop; his parents, Earnest Bishop and Gloria Bishop; and his wife, Daisy Bishop.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. in D.L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. Deacon Junius Shealey will officiate. Interment will follow with a private ceremony.
A public viewing will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 2 to 6 p.m. in D.L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
Brother Bishop leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his life partner, Carmen Mendez of Austin, Texas; his daughter, LaToya Kornegay of Raleigh, N.C.; his sisters; Carol Bishop Batiste and Diane Bishop McIntyre both of Goldsboro, N.C.; his brother, William Earl "Boot" Bishop and wife, Jesse, of Dublin, Ga.; his two grandchildren, Kiyonna and Monte both of Raleigh, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Thursday, July 2, 2015, the family members and friends will assemble one hour prior at 10 a.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., in preparation for the funeral lineup.
Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
