Mrs. Mable Gray Darden, 89, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Mother Darden," of 809 N. Glenwood Trail, Southern Pines, N.C., departed her earthly life on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Peak Resources Pinelake Nursing Center in Carthage, N.C.

Mable was born in Greene County on March 6, 1926, to the late Mr. John Gray and Mrs. Millie Swinson Gray.

She received her education in the public school system of Greene County.

Mother Darden loved her church, loved to study the Bible, and she loved to speak of the goodness of God.

She enjoyed singing in the church choir, reading the Bible and completing crossword puzzles.

The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 29, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Goldsboro Chapel F.W.B Church, 1314 Ben Brewington Court, Goldsboro, N.C. Pastor James E. Collins will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery-North, 1191 Old Grantham Road, Goldsboro, N.C.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in the Goldsboro Chapel F.W.B Church, 1314 Ben Brewington Court, Goldsboro, N.C., with the family present at 10 a.m.

Mother Darden leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her son, Osmand Gray and wife, Melissa, of Southern Pines, N.C.; her grandchildren and caretakers, Judith Gray, Lianza Gray, Jennie Joy and Dustin Euston; her 11 grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church members and friends.

On Monday, June 29, 2015, the family members and friends will assemble at 8:45 a.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning on Sunday, June 28, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
