Mrs. Gevankco Maria Jones Flagg, 50, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Fruitie Bonkers," 821 Applewood Lane, Fayetteville, N.C., departed her earthly life Monday, June 8, 2015, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, N.C.

Gevankco was born in Johnston County May 25, 1965, to the late Mr. Rudolph Jones and the living Mrs. Annie Everette Scarboro.

She received her education in the public school system of Johnston County.

She furthered her education by entering Fayetteville State University and graduating in the class of 1988.

During her working years, Maria was employed with Quality Inn Motel, where she served as a manager for many years.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 500 S. Pollock St., Selma, NC. Pastor Robbie Millard will officiate. Interment will follow in Everette Family Memorial Cemetery, 4224 Old Smithfield, Princeton, N.C.

A public viewing will be held Friday, June 12, 2015, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Apostle D.L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.

Mrs. Flagg leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her daughter, daughter, Staff Sgt. Tiffany N. Flagg of Okinawa, Japan; her son, Corey D. Flagg of Seattle, Wash.; her mother, Annie R. Brown (James) of North Charleston, S.C.; her siblings, Freda Y. Holback of North Charleston, S.C., and Anthony Pone of Selma, N.C.; her grandmother, Christine Everette of Princeton, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Saturday, June 13, 2015, the family members and friends will assemble one hour prior at 9:45 a.m. at Mrs. Christine Everette's residence, 721 Buckleberry Road, Princeton, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Friday, June 12, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
