Mr. Nathaniel Mitchell Sr., 90, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Budd Mitchell," 1272 Durham Lake Road, Dudley, N.C., departed his earthly life Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.

"Budd Mitchell" was born in Wayne County Sept. 16, 1924, to the late Mr. Jessie Mitchell and Mrs. Nellie Ward Mitchell.

He received his education in the public school system of Wayne County.

During his working years, Budd Mitchell was employed with Wooten Oil Co., where he served as a maintenance technician for many years.

Mr. Mitchell was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Alberta Melvin Mitchell.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 12, 2015, at 11 a.m. in D.L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. Bishop Michael E. Mitchell will officiate.

Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery South, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, N.C.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 2 to 5 p.m. in Apostle D.L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family present from 4 to 5 p.m.

Mr. Mitchell leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories to his two sons, Nathaniel Mitchell Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, and Roy Mitchell of Dudley, N.C.; his three daughters, Ethel Murrell and husband, George T. Jr., of Camp Springs, Md., elder Bertha Ward and husband, Larry, of Dudley, N.C., and Helen Thompson and husband, Linwood, of District Heights, Md.; his 14 grandchildren; his 17 great-grandchildren; his six great-great-grandchildren; his surviving siblings, Leander Mitchell, Mary Lena Fokey and Ada Best all of Goldsboro, N.C., Nellie Thomas and husband, Bob, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Bobby Mitchell of District Heights, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Friday, June 12, 2015, the family members and friends will assemble one hour prior at 9:50 a.m. at the Wards' residence, 1250 Durham Lake Road, Dudley, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
