RET. CHIEF MASTER SGT. FRED W. CLARY

Retired Chief Master Sgt. Fred William Clary, 85, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Fred was born in Detroit, Mich., to the late Henry and Clissie Ayers Clary.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Phillips; a brother, Ronnie Trull; and brother-in-law, Carlton Clary.
A 30-year veteran with the United States Army and the United States Air Force, Fred served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
After retiring from the military, Fred continued his career by working at Wayne Community College, where he retired after 20 years of service.
He was an active member of Providence United Methodist Church, where he had served in a variety of capacities.
Fred was also a member of Goldsboro Masonic Lodge No. 634 and the Scottish Rite. He was an honorary member of the Girl Scouts, and was proud to be a member of the "Ten Gallon Club" with the American Red Cross for giving blood. He was a generous person who helped those in need.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dusty Sprouse and Mr. Rudy Peedin officiating. Burial will be at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends immediately following the funeral service in the church sanctuary.
Mr. Clary is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Tucker Clary; two daughters, Paula Clary and her husband, Stephen Bottock, and Karen Crump and her husband, Phil; two sisters, Gloria Morsell and her husband, William, and Margie Clary; brother, Frankie Clary and wife, Patsy; and four grandchildren, Kaitlin Bottock and her husband, Andrew Van Duzer, Taylor Bottock, Hunter Crump and Kyle Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 202 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
