Joseph Edward "Slick" Strickland Sr., 76, Kinston, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Kitty Askins.
Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mabel Strickland, and his wife, Rebecca Harris Strickland.
He was a retired mechanic with the town of Ayden.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Strickland Thornton and husband, Danny, of Pikeville; sons, Joe Strickland Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Greenville and Spencer Strickland and wife, Christi, of Deep Run; grandchildren, Dylan, Haley, Brad, Justin, J.J., Dana and David; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Gabe; sisters, Jean Dixon and Patricia Cox of Bel Arthur; brothers, Bobby Strickland and Willis Strickland of Greenville; sister-in-law, Peggy Stepps; brother-in-law, James Harris; many special nieces and nephews; and his furry faithful friend, Cody.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to Mr. Strickland's caregiver, Jennifer Hicks.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marc Swanner officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
