EDITH PENDER HEAD
Died Feb. 14, 2015
Edith Pender Head, 81, of Eureka, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Feb. 14, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Eureka United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Eureka United Methodist Church, with Pastor Michelle Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Eureka Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family all other times at the home.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil U. and Ruby Bass Pender, and brothers, "Buddy" Pender and "Sonny" Pender.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lem "Jimmie" Head of the home; daughters, Debbie Smith of Eureka, Denise and Ros Ballance of Fremont, Delores and Jeff Gray of Goldsboro; son, Dennis, of the home; caregiver and adopted daughter, Jenny Sipes of the home; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Belle Brown of Fremont and Shirley Ginn of Eureka; brothers, Charles Pender, Elvin Pender and Keith Pender, all of Eureka; senior companion, Lula Mae Sutton of Pikeville; and caregiver and friend, Jennifer Montague of Fremont.
Edith was employed by Cooper Industries prior to retirement. She was most at home in her kitchen and was an outstanding cook and avid baker. She had a great passion for making cakes, pies, candies and other desserts.
Edith was known for her kindness, generosity and concern for her family, friends and others. She enjoyed visiting others in their homes, nursing homes and hospitals. Helping others no matter what the need was very important to her. She often welcomed into her home those who needed a place to live. She was very dedicated to her church, Eureka United Methodist Church and was a member of the Golden Lights.
