MARGARET SCOTT WATERS

Margaret Scott Waters, 100, Goldsboro, a resident of the Pines, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015.

Margaret was born in Wayne County Feb. 22, 1914, to the late William L. and Fannie Blackman Scott.

She was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Goldsboro.

Margaret lived a life of dedication to her family, friends and Goldsboro community.

She was a volunteer throughout her life: Goldsboro schools when her children were young, Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels and more than 40 years at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Above all, Margaret loved spending time with her family and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Margaret's life at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Adam Seate officiating. Entombment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Mary Margaret McMichael and husband, Joe, of Surf City and Edna Marshall of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Melissa Stirewalt (Todd) of Salisbury, Lindsay Prickett (Warren) of Wilmington, Jay McMichael of Goldsboro and Amanda Dykeman (Joe) of St. Augustine, Fla.; nine great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jeffrey Richardson, Ella and Anna Prickett and Nicholas, Hannah, Liam, Lucy and Colin Dykeman; and a great-great-grandchild, Ava Richardson.

She is also survived by her brother, Rodney Scott and wife, Verna, of Goldsboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Earl S. Waters; sister, Gertrude Spangler; brothers, Buck, Billy, Raymond, Shorty and Tommy Scott; and a great-grandson, Jonny Richardson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her nieces, Holly and Lynn, and especially her niece, Scottie Weathers, for all their care and support.
