Linwood Earl Summerlin, 94, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Linwood Earl was born in Wayne County April 7, 1920, to the late John D Summerlin and Lillian Hinnant Summerlin Vann. He was married to the late Annie Gold Deans Summerlin.
Linwood Earl worked as a merchant and real estate developer in Goldsboro for many years.
He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Willow Dale Cemetery, with the Rev. Adam Seate officiating.
Linwood Earl is survived by his daughters, Judy S. O'Daniel and husband, Bobby, of Goldsboro, Linda S. Croom and husband, Gene, of Goldsboro, Marygold S. Smith and husband, Gus, of Greensboro and Carolyn S. Eagles and friend, Monte Uzzell, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Lynn O'Daniel Gentry and husband, Tim, Marnie Croom O'Hagan and husband, Joe, Emory Eugene Croom III, Dr. Todd Smith and wife, Dana, Leigh Smith Harris and husband, Jim, and Wes Eagles and wife, Catherine; and great-grandchildren, Danielle and Chandler Gentry, Joseph and Lindsie O'Hagan, Emory Croom IV, Courtney Smith, Juleigh Harris and Eliza and Cate Eagles.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Felix Summerlin, and his stepfather, A.M. Vann.
Memorials may be made in memory of Linwood to Saint Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family would like to express its appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Van L. Adams and Dr. Dimitrios Lintzeris.
Love and heartfelt thanks are also expressed to the telemetry staff on the third floor at Wayne Memorial Hospital, the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center and Willow Creek Rehab for the excellent care they provided for Linwood Earl.
