Barbara Joynes Twine, 88, died peacefully at her home in The Sterling House in Goldsboro, N.C., Dec. 11, 2014.
She was born Sept. 5, 1926, in Norfolk, Va., to Blanche Armstrong and Dallas Brooke Joynes.
She graduated there from Granby High School in 1945, and attended Madison College.
Her husband, James Malbon Twine, preceded her in death in 1984.
She was an avid reader, bridge player and golfer.
Throughout her life, she made many enduring friendships.
Barbara is survived by her four children, Kimberly Vaeth of Boston, Mass., Brooke Eason and husband, Jim, of Goldsboro, N.C., Shafer Dobry and husband, Michael, of Herndon, Va., and David Twine and wife, Molly, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and her nephew, Dallas Boggs of Solano Beach, Calif.
She has four grandchildren, Taylor Twine, Charlotte and Clayton Dobry and Blair Eason, and a great-granddaughter, Nora Denhalter.
The family will have a private ceremony at a later date.
