ELDER MICHAEL PRESTON SUMMERS

Elder Michael Preston Summers, 53, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Elder Mike," 403 Waters Circle, Goldsboro, N.C., departed his earthly life Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, N.C.
Mike was born in Wayne County Jan. 8, 1961. He was born to the late Mrs. Ruth Reid Summers and Mr. Preston Summers.
He received his education in the public school system of Wayne County, and he attended and graduated from Goldsboro High School in the class of 1980.
Also, Elder Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Christine Cox, and two brothers, Mr. Preston Gardner and Mr. Jimmy Randolph.
Elder Summers was a member of St. Mark Church of Christ Disciples of Christ in Faro, N.C.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 N. Carolina St., Goldsboro, N.C. Elder Dr. Robert D. Hood will officiate.
Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, 441 U.S. 117 North, Goldsboro, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 2 to 7 p.m. in Apostle D.L. McIntyre Memorial Chapel at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. The family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m. to receive other family members and friends.
Elder Mike leaves loving memories to his wife, elder Beverly Brooks Summers; a daughter, LaShanda Williams (Elliott); five sisters, Geraldine Atkinson (Raymond), Joyce Best (Tony) and Lisa Summers (Bruce) all of Goldsboro, N.C., Carolyn Smith of Hampton, Va., and Bernice Kendall (Michael) of Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers, James Summers of Raleigh, N.C., Bobby Summers (Beverly) of LaGrange, N.C., and Billy Randolph of Brandon, Fla.; four grandchildren, Geniya, A'Nysia, Shamaiya and Jeremiah Williams; an aunt, Lillie Mae Reid; an uncle, Lonnie Russell; two very special friends and adopted brothers, Bishop Allan L. Smith and Thurman Bunn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Friday, July 25, 2014, the family and friends will assemble at the residence of Elder Beverly Brooks Summers, 403 Waters Circle, Goldsboro, N.C., at 9:45 a.m. in preparation for the funeral possession.
Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., beginning Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
