Thomas Richard Stephens, Clayton, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Stephens was born in Danville, Va., Nov. 3, 1942, to Arnie Wilber Stephens and Maggie Thomas Stephens Collis.
He was preceded in death by father; a brother, Willie Arnie Stephens; and his wife, Donna J. Stephens.
Mr. Stephens was a 1960 graduate of George Washington High School in Danville, and attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
He served in the Army National Guard for six years.
Mr. Stephens worked as a construction engineer with Davidson and Jones Construction Co. in Raleigh until his retirement in 2007.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, Dr. Nathan Stephens and his wife, Ann, of Salem, Va.; his sister-in-law, Linda Stephens of Harrisonburg, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his companion and caregiver, Anne Regans of Goldsboro, N.C.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. May 24, 2014, at Mosley Memorial United Methodist Church, 601 Berryman Ave., Danville, Va., 24541.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1848, Longmont, Colo., 24541.
