LORTON, Va. -- Mary Artis Person died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the age of 59.
Mrs. Person was the dear daughter of the late James and Mary Artis Royal.
Mary served the Fairfax County School District for more than 30 years as a teacher, education specialist, assistant principal and principal.
She was the beloved wife for 36 years of Carl S. Person; the caring mother of Cara Person; sister of Ethelene Rogers, Ralph (Annie) Artis, Delores Hill, Mavis (Zeb) Regan, Linda (Ronald) Reese and Melvin (Carolyn) Artis; and daughter-in-law of Margaret Person.
She is also survived by a large and loving extended family.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. James Church of Christ Disciples of Christ Church, 514 Memorial Church Road, Fremont, N.C., with no prior public viewing. At all other times, the family will receive friends at 130 Woods Mill Road (Hunter's Creek subdivision), Goldsboro, N.C.
A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at St. James Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 514 Memorial Church Road, Fremont, N.C., Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park South, Dudley, N.C.
