PRINCETON -- Lionel Martin Dudley, 67, 859 Oakland Church Road, Princeton, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Kitty Askins of Goldsboro.
Lionel was born in Johnston County Jan. 19, 1945, and was the son of the late Dewey Robert Dudley and Esther Martin Dudley Sasser.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Lionel Martin "Marty" Dudley.
Mr. Dudley served our country in the Army.
He was a member of Princeton Baptist Church, where he served as an usher.
He served his community through Oakland Fire Department, and was a retired fireman.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Princeton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Pollock and Matt Wilson officiating.
The committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Princeton Cemetery.
Mr. Dudley is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Braswell Dudley; son, Neil Dudley and wife, Patricia, of Goldsboro; daughter, Joy Lynne Dudley of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Dudley; sisters, Pat Howell and husband, Ken, of Princeton and Cindy Taylor and husband, Rodney, of LaGrange; and grandchildren; Alexis Dudley, Kayla Dudley, Cory Smith and Lauren Dudley.
Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the North Carolina Veterans Home, 214 Cochran Ave., Fayetteville, N.C., 28301 (please note that memorials are for Lionel Dudley), or Princeton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 215, Princeton, N.C., 27569.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Princeton Baptist Church.
The family is being served by Casey Funeral Home in Princeton.
