MILLARD E. THIGPEN

Millard Elwood Thigpen, 69, of Dudley passed away Friday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dean Kennedy officiating. Committal with full military honors will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
He was the son of the late William Edward and Josephine Smith Thigpen, and was the husband of Patricia Thigpen. Mr. Thigpen was retired from the United States Air Force and had been employed as a maintenance supervisor for the Brian Center.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Thigpen is survived by a daughter, Tiffany C. Thigpen and husband, Johnny Wilson, of LaGrange; a son, Jeffrey W. Thigpen and wife, Amy, of Surf City; three brothers, Edward Thigpen and wife, Betty, of Deep Run, Earl Thigpen and wife, Carolyn, of Pink Hill, and Hollis Thigpen and wife, Sandy, of Snow Hill; two grandchildren, Tanner A. Wilson and Christopher Thigpen; and his two girls, Molly and Suzie.
In addition to his parents. Mr. Thigpen was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis J. Thigpen; and a grandson, Alex Thigpen.
