PIKEVILLE -- James Randall Howard, 70, passed away on Saturday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 20, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Amerah-Garner Cemetery in Newport.
Mr. Howard was born in Carteret County on Nov. 30, 1940, to the late James Edward and Mildred Garner Howard. He had worked for 10 years as a chef with Goldsboro Country Club. Mr. Howard also served his country in the National Guard.
Mr. Howard is survived his children, William Edward Howard of Beaufort, Jacqulin Howard Creech of Pikeville, Robert Roy Morton and wife, Rose, of Newport, Anthony Wayne Morton of Pikeville, Dee Dee Whitfield of Pikeville, Shawn McKell Howard of Pikeville, Dawn Howard Walker and husband, Greg, of Pikeville, Jason Randall Howard and wife, Candy, of Pikeville, James Randall Bryce and wife, Laura, of Nashville and Kathy Howard Harris and husband, Bobby, of Princeville; his sisters, Janice Squires of New Bern and Geneva Bell of Newport; 27 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia B. Howard; his sons, James Douglas Howard, Eugene Randall Howard and Keith Alton Howard; and his granddaughter, Amanda Jean Creech.
The family will receive friends today from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
