ANITA POWELL WEAVER

FAYETTEVILLE -- Anita Powell Weaver, 432 Brightwood Drive, Fayetteville, died June 6, 2011.
She is originally from Dunnellon, Fla., and came to Fayetteville with her husband, Dr. Roy A. Weaver, in 1971.
She is a graduate of Stetson University of Deland, Fla., with a degree in education.
She had been a leader in her garden club and in the Cumberland County and North Carolina medical auxiliaries. She was a true friend to associates in her book club and among the "birthday girls."
She was a member of the Sandhills Orchid Society, and loved growing orchids.
She was born April 16, 1937, to the late Paul and Florence Powell of Dunnellon, Fla.
Roy and Anita celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2010.
Their three children are the Rev. Michael Weaver, Gail Mrozek and Gary Weaver. Mike and wife, Rebecca Coffin, live in Fayetteville. Gail and husband, Albert Mrozek, live in Raleigh, N.C. Gary and wife, Ann Marie Riedy, live in Raleigh.
Grandchildren are Caleb and Luke Weaver of Fayetteville, Jordan Mrozek of Alexandria, Va., Matthew Mrozek and John Mrozek of Raleigh and Genevieve Weaver and Abigail Weaver of Raleigh.
Anita was predeceased by her sister, Florine Powell, and her parents of Dunnellon, Fla.
There remain many of Anita's cousins in Wayne County, N.C., and Sampson County, N.C., as well as a much-loved cousin, Wayne Powell, and his family in Dunnellon, Fla.
Funeral services are entrusted to Sullivan's Highland Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at Highland Presby-terian Church, Fayetteville, N.C., at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, with a reception following in the fellowship hall.
The memorial service will be preceded by a private family burial at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery, U.S. 301 South, Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville Botanical Garden, First Presbyterian Church, Highland Presbyterian Church or one's favorite charity.
