THE REV. GLADYS B. WELLS

Gladys Barrow Wells, 85, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held today, April 3, 2011, at 5 p.m. at Free Gospel PFWB Church in Snow Hill with the Rev. Terry Heath, the Rev. Reynolds Smith and the Rev. Danny Hamm officiating. The family will receive friends following the service, and at her residence other times. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Wells Family Cemetery in Snow Hill.
She was born in Greene County on Nov. 21, 1925, to the late Taylor Roosevelt Barrow and Emma Thomas Barrow.
Ms. Wells was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband of 52 years, Leon "Tobe" Wells, operated their family farm together.
She was a member of Free Gospel PFWB Church and taught Sunday School for over 55 years. Ms. Wells was also a member of Free Gospel Ladies Auxiliary. The Lord called her into the ministry and she accepted the call. She dedicated her life to evangelism and other ministries, including visiting the sick and elderly, mentoring young Christians and being a prayer warrior. Ms. Wells was given ordination as a Minister of the Gospel on Oct. 26, 1980, by The Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International.
Ms. Wells is survived by her sons, Taylor Gregg Potter of Goldsboro and Stephen L. Wells and wife, Lori, of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Grayson Wells, Tanner Wells, and Leslie Wells; her sisters, Margaret B. Sutton, Rosetta B. Smith and Ann B. Davis, all of Goldsboro; her brother, Wade Barrow of Snow Hill; and her foster brother, Oscar Mooring of Pikeville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon "Tobe" Wells; and her sisters, Ruby B. Daniels, Jessie B. Ham, and Marie B. Perry; and her brothers, James Barrow and Robert C. "Bud" Barrow.
