MAVIS P. SUGGS

Mavis Pollock Suggs, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A going-home celebration will be held Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at the Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church at 7 p.m. with Dr. Don Sauls, the Rev. Daniel Weeks and the Rev. Roy Savage officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Forehand Family Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Holder officiating.
Mavis was born in Wayne County on Oct. 6, 1926, to the late Willie L. Pollock and Unity Hill Pollock. She was married to the late Jim Suggs. Mavis was a member of Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Mavis is survived by her daughter, Linda Moore of Pikeville; her son, James Sean Suggs; her sister, Marie Sykes; her brother, Leonard Pollock; three grandchildren, Joey Moore and wife, Erica, Allen Moore, and Melinda Keener and husband, Mark; three great-grandchildren; and one foster child, Fannie Mooring.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James Autry Hall; sister, Jean Bennett; and her brothers, Marvin Pollock, Donald Pollock and Jimmy Pollock.
The family will receive friends Monday following the service at the church and other times at the home of Melinda and Mark Keener, 701 West Hooks River Road, Goldsboro.
