EDDIE LEE GRAHAM

EDDIE LEE GRAHAM

So peacefully and gently on Tuesday night, Jan. 25, 2011, God in his infinite wisdom called to eternal rest our dear loved one Eddie Lee Graham.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1943, in Wayne County to James Graham, Sr. and the late Julia Ward Graham. He was the third of nine siblings; two infant brothers and a sister Clarice Graham Lewis preceded him in death.

His early years were spent in Mount Olive, N.C. (Smith Chapel Community) where he enjoyed the blessing of love and fun in a large and close-knit family. He attended Carver High School and graduated in the Class of 1961.

He was united in holy matrimony to Letha Smith Graham March 8, 1963 and three children were born to this union.

He was employed at Cherry Hospital in the health care profession and was selected by his co-workers as Health Care Technician of the Year. After retiring from Cherry with 30 years of service he partnered with a friend Willie Shirley and operated a home improvement business for 10 years. He pursued his hobbies of fishing, hunting, and gardening and was always willing to share his bounty with others. He enjoyed barbecuing for family gatherings and other occasions and his barbecue sauce was always in demand. His love for his family was always unconditional and complete.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 42 years Letha Graham, three children, Wendy Frederick of Mount Olive, Lionel (Topeka) Graham of Mount Olive, Cindy (Rick) Bess of Mount Olive, his father Deacon James Graham of Mount Olive, four brothers, James (Brenda) Graham, Jr. of Goldsboro, Archie (Mable) Graham of Goldsboro, Donald (Florece) Graham of Mount Olive, Curtis (Deborah) Graham of Dudley, one sister Gracie (Bobby) Price of Goldsboro, brother-in-law Sam Lewis, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation for Mr. Graham will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A service of remembrance will take place on Saturday at 11a.m. at St. Luke Church of Christ in Mount Olive, after which his earthly temple will be ecorted to the Ward Cemetery for intermment rites. Although Mr. Graham's family and friends all have solemn hearts of him no longer being here on Earth to laugh and spend time together, all that knew him can have the assurance, knowing that he has crossed those peaceful shores and is now resting from his labor down here on Earth.

The family is receiving services of compassion and distinguished class from E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
