YORK, Pa. -- Harry W. Barnhart, 92, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011.
The son of the late Harry V. and Lucy M. Williams Barnhart, he was born in York, Pa., Jan. 17, 1918.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Bertha Meinke Barnhart.
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving in World War II from October 1942 through December 1945. His service included the invasion of Anzio Jan. 22, 1944, and Okinawa April 1, 1945.
He retired from York Wallcovering in 1984, after 50 years in wallpaper and textiles.
Harry was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of York, Pa.
Harry is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Durling of Keene, N.H., and Shiela Saha and husband, Warren, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a son, Michael H. Barnhart and wife, Alexa, of Goldsboro, N.C.; five grandchildren, Kim Swett, Pam Patnode, Sarah Barnhart, Matthew Saha, and Michael W. Barnhart; and three great-grandchildren, Allyson and Logan Patnode and Madison Swett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2580 Mount Rose Ave., York, Pa. Burial will follow at Quickel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Emig Funeral Home, Dover, Pa., is in charge of the arrangements.
