DURHAM -- Betty Jewel Jones Creech, 78, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.
Betty was born in Wayne County Nov. 25, 1932, to the late Johnnie A. Jones and Bernace B. Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Creech; two sons; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at Clements Funeral Chapel, 1105 Broad St. in Durham.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m., and the funeral will be held at 11 a.m.
She is survived by a son, Gary Creech and wife, Mary; two granddaughters; and a grandson. She is survived by a sister, Jo Ann Aycock and husband, Alex, of Nahunta; a sister-in-law, Tempie Jones of Nahunta; and several nieces and nephews.
