EARL RACKLEY

GOLDSBORO -- Earl Rackley, age 92, died peacefully in his sleep Monday evening at Mount Olive Care and Rehabilitation.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Thomas Francis and Lena Rivers Edwards Rackley.
Married to the late Margaret Jennette Rackley for 72 years, he was a member of Providence United Methodist Church for more than 60 years and a former member of Gideons International.
He was the president of R&H Oil Co., a veteran of the United States Army during World War II and a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Rackley was preceded in death by a son, Billy Earl Rackley; a granddaughter, Robin Jennette Rackley; and a sister, Virginia Rackley Schaeffer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Terry Hobbs officiating.
Family members will greet friends Wednesday night following the funeral service in Providence Church fellowship hall.
A graveside service will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Rackley is survived by his daughter, Mary Rivers Rackley Jones and husband, Donald, of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, William "Buck" and Heather Rackley, Eagan and Katie Rackley, Cleve and Angelia Jones, Steve and Wendy Jones and Kevin and Rachel Jones; and 15 great-grandchildren.
