Jesse Thomas Horton Sr., 75, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Jesse Paul," 306 S. William St., Apartment B-1, was called by our Heavenly Father to his final resting place Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Brother Horton was born in Wilson County, June 14, 1933, and was the son of the late James Cleophus and Adora Effie Mae Barnes Horton.
He was educated in the Wilson County School System and on July 17, 1965, he was united in marriage to Rachel Lee Kornegay.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 1 p.m. from Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 601 W. Elm St., with pastor Nathaniel Spells officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 U.S. 70 West, Goldsboro.
A viewing will be held Friday, April 10, 2009, at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., from 1 until 5 p.m.
Brother Horton leaves to cherish his loving memories his loving and devoted wife, Rachel Kornegay Horton of the home; two daughters, Rachel Selina Martin and husband, Derrick, of Pikeville, and Ethel Diane Pettus of Goldsboro; one son, Jesse Thomas Horton Jr. of the home; one brother, Haywood Horton of Norfolk, Va.; three sisters, Helen Stevens of Virginia Beach, Va., Shirley Horton of Chesapeake, Va., and Eunice Landers and husband, Henry, of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Mittie Exum and husband, Joe, Laddie Sutton and husband, Willie, Christine Graham and one special sister-in-law, Leatha M. Kornegay; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of Rachel Horton, 306 S. William St., Apartment B-1.

In lieu of flowers, the Horton family is requesting that memorial donations be made to Brother Jesse Horton's granddaughter, Cherrelle Horton, for her college fund.
