Lena Sessoms Owens, 89, of 135 Smithwick Lane, Grifton, formerly of Fountain, died Friday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Queen Anne Cemetery in Fountain, with the Rev. Curtis White officiating.
Born in Pitt County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Jackie Dunn Sessoms and wife of the late James Thomas Owens Jr.
Mrs. Owens is survived by a son, the Rev. James R. Owens Sr. and wife, Brenda, of Grifton; three grandchildren, Renee, J.R. and Scott; one great-grandson, Camden Scott; and a special sister-in-law, Ann Wooten of Macclesfield.
Family members will greet friends at the graveside and at other times at the home.
