LAGRANGE -- Seth Alonza "Lon" Dawson, 75, of LaGrange, died Wednesday.
A service of remembrance will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Broadwell officiating. A private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
Lon was born Feb. 28, 1933, to the late Seth and Sallie Dawson. He was a retired farmer and a member of White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Lon is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rachel Herring Dawson; three children, Neil Dawson and wife, Peggy, of Tuckasegee, N.C., Dickie Dawson and wife, Penny, of LaGrange, Ann Dawson Harrison and husband, Jeffrey, of LaGrange; four grandchildren, Erin C. Dawson of LaGrange, Megan Dawson Wade and husband, Lee, of Holly Springs, Seth J. Harrison of LaGrange and Katie Harrison of LaGrange; stepgrandson, Rod McNeil of Fayetteville; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Callahan, Izzabell and Margaret McNeil; sister-in-law, Grace G. Dawson of LaGrange; and an aunt, Elizabeth Grant of Goldsboro.
Lon was preceded in death by a brother, Jennings Dawson.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home.
