NANCY M. OUTLAW

MOUNT OLIVE -- Nancy Marion Outlaw, 53, of the Pleasant Grove community near Mount Olive, died Sunday after a courageous battle with a brain tumor.
Born on Nov. 25, 1955, Nancy was a lifelong resident of North Carolina. She graduated from West Edgecombe High School in Rocky Mount in 1974, and Campbell College in 1978. She later obtained two master's degrees from East Carolina University.
She served in Wayne and Duplin counties as a middle school teacher for 20 years and as a guidance counselor for eight years. One of her proudest accomplishments was being named Duplin County Teacher of the Year. Nancy dearly loved her church, Kenansville Baptist, where she served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Gene Q. Outlaw; son, Joshua Eugene Outlaw; daughter, Anna Marion Outlaw; parents, the Rev. and Mrs. H. Everett Marion of Rocky Mount; sister and brother-in-law, Martha Marion Lancaster and Watson Lancaster of Rocky Mount; sister and brother-in-law, Joy Marion Gambill and Dr. Chris Gambill of Winston-Salem; mother-in-law, Ruth Q. Outlaw of Mount Olive; sister-in-law, Faye O. Bartlett and family of Goldsboro; brother-in-law, Johnny R. Outlaw and family of Mount Olive; special neighbors, Jennings, Julie, Daniel and Laura Outlaw of Mount Olive; and she was the "favorite aunt" to numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Kenansville Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Devotional Gardens in Warsaw.
