WILLIAM A. GURLEY JR.
Died Jan. 6, 2009
KENLY -- William Anderson Gurley Jr., 92, Highway 581 N., passed away Tuesday morning Jan. 6, 2009, from a car accident.
He was the son of the late William Anderson and Lula Radford Gurley. Mr. Gurley was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jones Gurley; a son, William Dee Gurley and a daughter, Christine Laverne Gurley.
Mr. Gurley was retired from General Motors of Maryland was a member of Niagara Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Faye Rose and husband, Roger Rose Sr. of Smyrna, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Stephen Rose, Dorothy Gay and Roger Rose Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a special friend, Letha Shook of Kenly.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Jones Family Cemetery in Kenly with the Rev. Randy Anderson and the Rev. Fred Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends other times at the home of Clement and Melva Thompson, 1461 Capps Bridge Road, Pikeville.
