Lucy Poythress Carter passed away on Saturday evening at SunBridge for Mount Olive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Sutton and the Rev. Shelton Justice officiating. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens in Warsaw.
Lucy was born in Garysboro to the late Richard Poythress and Laura Peterson Poythress. She was married to the late Seaton Carter. Lucy had attended Bowden Presbyterian Church.
Lucy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Alice Jernigan of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Jeff Jernigan and wife, Melinda of Goldsboro and Allison Jernigan of Goldsboro; and her great-grandchildren, Joshua Jernigan and Graham Jernigan.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
