DEACON W. BRYANT

March 14, 1918-Nov. 7, 2008

Deacon Walter Bryant, lovingly known by his family and church friends as "Deacon," 90, of 103 James St., Princeton, N.C., entered into eternal rest on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Smithfield, N.C.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. from the Mount Zion Bible Church of God, 309 W. Edward St., Princeton, N.C. 27569. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 W. U.S. 70 Hwy., Goldsboro, N.C. A viewing will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Deacon was born March 14, 1918 in Smoak, S.C., to the late Lonnie Bryant and Birdie Jakes Bryant. His wife, Mrs. Mable Williams Bryant, and one son, Cornell Bryant preceded him in death.

Deacon Bryant was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather and a deacon at Mount Zion Bible Church of God in Princeton.

Left to cherish his loving memories are one daughter, Joyce B. Richardson and husband, Bishop Clarence B. Richardson; three sons, Melvin R. Bryant and wife, Dolores, of New York, N.Y., Gregory L. Bryant and wife, Starendel, of Fort Washington, Md., and Ronald O. Bryant of the home; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Grace McIlwain of Teaneck, N.J., and Doris Ramey of Martinsville, Va.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A wake will be conducted Monday evening, Nov. 10, 2008, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Mount Zion Bible Church of God in Princeton, with the family present to receive other family members and friends. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of Deacon Walter Bryant, 103 James St., Princeton, N.C., 27569.
