PIKEVILLE -- Odell Goodman, 99, a lifetime resident of Pikeville, died Wednesday night at Countryside Living.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Don Sauls officiating. Interment will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pike Cemetery.
A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lou Hardison Goodman. After the death of his parents when Odell was a young child, he was reared by his uncle and aunt, Nathan and Lizzie Barnette. Odell was a member of Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and was retired from the Town of Pikeville with 30 years of service. Odell will be remembered by those who knew him for his enjoyment of hard work and for helping others in the Pikeville community.
Odell is survived by two nieces, Georgia Crumpler and Brenda Dail, both of Pikeville and a nephew, Jerry Goodman and wife, Judy of Goldsboro.
The family requests that memorials be made to Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 910, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence of Brenda Dail, 975 Nahunta Road, Pikeville.
